How to Build the Wine Bottle and Glass Holder

Step 1: The first step in making this holder was to make a 10” x 10” x 3/4″ piece. There is just this one piece in this build, as you can see. We need to cut out the spaces for the wine glasses from this piece and bring them into the circular shape.

So, we marked out the size for cutting off the excess from the piece we had to make it into a 10″ square. If you are starting with a 10” square piece, you can skip this step..

Step 2: We marked two diagonal lines on the 10” x 10” square for getting the center of the piece..

Then we marked a 10” diameter circle that just touches the four edges of the piece.

Step 3: So we need a ½” wide channel that leads to the circular slot for holding the glass. We marked that first. Then we marked the holder locations, four circles with ¾” diameter. Finally, we drew the circle at the center with 10 inches diameter.

Step 4: We used a hole saw bit on the drill to make the hole in the piece. You can also use a Forstner bit for this ( a better option, actually).

We then drilled the center hole with 1-½” diameter.

Step 5: After we made the outer four holes and the hole in the center , we ran the jig saw along the outer circle to make the square piece into a circular piece with 10” diameter.

Step 6: Next, we had to cut out the channels (½” channels), which we marked earlier. We used the jigsaw to cut them out along the line we marked earlier

Step 7: We sanded it thoroughly and then finished it using WATCO Teak Oil.
